The art of crochet served as a source of solace for Marina during her battle with cancer. Marina Monitto hails from a picturesque Baroque city in Sicily, Italy. The name Seekelia is derived from the ancient Sicilian people.

"I fondly recall my grandmother taking me to the convent where nuns imparted the invaluable traditions of millenary embroidery." Embroidery is a time-honored craft in Sicilian tradition, historically used to adorn the trousseaus of brides. Marina's educational and professional pursuits led her in a different direction, working in the Sales Organization of a prominent company and living across various countries in Europe and the US. Driven by a profound love for her homeland and its enduring artisanal traditions, Marina, during her illness, made the decision to depart from her career and breathe life into handcrafted Italian jewelry, drawing inspiration from the memories, colors, and traditions of Sicily.

Through Seekelia, Marina has brought a contemporary interpretation to an age-old tradition.
